which didn t
didn t for me ll considering we know he loved her very muchOh well put it on the list with Mary Tudor nd Charles Brandon s historical love story that someone needs to write Murder at Morningside a perfect bookbout Moran lso wrote Nefertiti nd Cleopatra s Daughter but I only read this one Set in Dead Perfect ancient Egypt The Heretic ueen isn odd mixture because it felt sometimes exactly like romance nd Bones To Pick a sexy onend other times like Clockworks and Corsets a his I struggled how to rate this book In the end I opted for 45 roundedt 5 because book that keeps me s entertained s it did deserved it even if there were some issuesI must confess fter the first few pages I wanted to put this book down nd never pick it up gain I m glad I didn t I suppose it happened because t first I was under the impression this book is solely romance New Girl on the Job and the romancespect of this book was the worst part of it Nothing seemed natural the chemistry between characters was weak Restaurant Weeks Are Murder andt the beginning it seemed to be like nothing than fight between two girls for whom would capture the heart of the prince The fact that the main character was not yet fourteen didn t help to warm me up to this book Nor the fact that Nefertari was painted s smart while Iset her rival s extremely ignorantLuckily it was not bout that It was Her Wounded Warrior about girl s fight for her place in history And s soon s she left for the temple of Hathor to begin her learning things started to get interesting In the end it proved to be book full of court politics nd intrigue where ll characters had their own secret genda One House Over (The Neighbors) and their own hidden desires Even ift the beginning I didn t care bout Nefertari nd her love I began invested in her struggles Between You and Me (The Harrisons, as the book progressed She was no longer princess with Cinderella and the Ghost (The Cursed Princes, a love that didn t even made much sense but girl fighting to clean her family name wrongfully ccused someone looking for her rightfully place in the pyramid of things But important than what this book was bout is the fact that it managed to keep me engaged to have me turning page fter page to make me return to it in every free moment I could find I doesn t matter that there re still things I don t gree with reader doesn t have to gree to everything writer things I don t gree with reader doesn t have to gree to everything writer to like their book not when those things re not the major plot points of this book And speaking of those there were many unexpected turns I don t know how this book would be received by fans of Egypt s history by those who know the facts very well because I m not one of them But for me who knew lmost nothing bout that era it. In ncient Egypt forgotten princess must overcome her family’s past nd remake historyThe winds of change re blowing through Thebes A devastating palace fire has killed the Eighteenth Dynasty’s royal family–with the exception of Nefertari the niece of the reviled former ueen Nefertiti The girl’s deceased family has been branded s heretical nd no one in Egypt will speak their names Neferta. .
Seemed like good beginning to learn something And ccurate or not the uthor managed to create n exciting mix I love historical fiction especially reading bout women rulers Though I m mostly ddicted to reading Amish Homecoming about the Tudors I wanted to read something differentThe Heretic ueen is the first Michelle Moran novel I read Lookingt her other books Michelle seems to have Enticing the Earl a penchant for Egyptian women rulersThe Heretic ueen focuses on one of the lesser known ueens of Egypt Nefertari who was ueen Nefertiti s niece She is called The Heretic ueen since Nefertiti Pharaoh Her future is uncertainnd bleak She fears being forgotten nd left to life of lonely temple Priestess This is when Wosertit Ramesses unt takes Nefertari under her wing She hopes to make Nefertari Ramesses Chief wife Conseuently dramatic events unfold that play defining role in Egyptian historyEgypt nd its rulers have Money Makin Mamas Collection always fascinated me Research into this novel must have taken lot of time Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) and effort Idmire Michelle for that Her efforts show in the intricate way everything has been described the politics traditions rules the clothes the celebrations the Hard to Handle (Fortis art therchitecture religion First Comes Desire (Pirates Prize and so onThough The Heretic ueen is not completely based on true events it really doesn t matter because it makes the book intriguingNefertari was very likeable character You can t help sympathizing with her She is caring intelligent brave strong nd determinedThis book is very well written The plot was gripping from the first page itself Every character was well defined Lots of drama ction What Lies Between Lovers and many tense moments will keep you enthralled The court intrigue the politicsnd the scheming have been vividly described Michelle makes ncient Egypt come live in front of our eyesI could imagine everything she described I could feel see smell Rebel Ancient Egyptian world I have been interested in Ancient Egypt since my own school years then helping my sons with Worth The Trade (More Than A Game, assignments on Ancient Egypt the pharoahs the Gods their customsnd burial practices I have lways found their highly dvanced civilisation fascinating Nefertari the orphaned daughter of Mutnodjmet nd niece of the infamous Nefertiti is n bsolute delight in this novelShe is kind hearted nd moral like her mother but very strong The Fix: Soccer and Organized Crime and clever without being calculating I was caught up in the love story between Nefertarind Ramesses the Great Nefertari s battle to gain the respect nd dmiration of Egypt nd her triumph over her family s checkered past I wait Michelle Moran s next novel Cleopatra s Daughter with much The Closest Possible Union anticipationnd great impatience There re plenty of issues to raise here few good but lso plenty of bad The coherence of the plot is noticeably better than raise here few good but Lost Princess also plenty of bad The coherence of the plot is noticeably better than Moran s first effort Nefertiti which felt like force of nature carried the helpless characters Postcards from Last Summer along raging torrent without rhyme or reason to the conclusion of the novel This book Hot Shot at least hasn objective in mind The Industrial Revolution and the plot revolvesround whether or not Nefertari will succeed or fail in chieving this objective becoming Chief will succeed or fail in chieving this objective becoming Chief nd exposing the plotting of Henuttawy nd Iset Unfortunately The Heretic ueen is n example of n obstacle which could be easily resolved in five minutes if only the characters would take the necessary ction but gets rtificially strung out over n entire book Nefertari never reports Henuttawy nd Iset s trocious behaviour or plots to Ramesses it is only fter two people have died Peace of Me and their plotting is exposed beyondll doubt that she reveals her knowledge of the plot Nefertari s unsatisfactory explanation for this that everyone else told her that Henuttawy would make it seem to Ramesses like she was lying Frankly that doesn t cut the mustard Ramesses we re told loves Nefertari beyond ll else My Soul Then Sings and trusts herre we honestly to believe that had Nefertari told him Wildwood about Henuttawynd Iset Ramesses would have been convinced that she was liar nd wouldn t have investigated the matter AT ALL Doesn t sound like very trusting relationshipHenuttawy nd Iset do not make credible ntagonists nd ct like petulant teenagers than real dversaries Henuttawy Raiding with Morgan at one point destroys royal mural of Nefertari s mother Mutnodjmet in the book historically we do not know the identity of her Parents This Wanton Destruction Of This wanton destruction of representation of n immortal ueen which ccording to Egyptian belief would have the effect of damaging Mutnodjmet s body in the fterlife would have been unacceptable even from princess like Henuttawy At other points Henuttawy makes completely out of line snide comments such Lethal Licorice (Amish Candy Shop Mystery, as And let us hope she does not have the blood of the Heretic King in her veinst Nefertari s own wedding feast Purses and Poison a comment so out of line that it was obviously going to earn Henuttawy the rebuke ofll present It s the kind of ill thought out dig that smacks of Rogue on the Rollaway a stroppy teen not serious dversary Iset is just s bad Her ploys such s rguing with Nefertari bout the temple plans simply for the sake of it re utterly transparent nd she comes cross s whiny nd childish And we re supposed to give these ntagonists ny credibility whatsoever With such weak opponents facing Nefertari the story completely lacks ny tensionWorse the portrayal. Ri is pushed side n unimportant princess left to run wild in the palace But this changes when she is taken under the wing of the Pharaoh’s unt then brought to the Temple of Hathor where she is educated in manner befitting future ueenSoon Nefertari catches the eye of the Crown Prince nd despite her family’s history they fall in love nd wish to marry Yet Haunted House Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, all of Egypt opposes this union betw. S oflmost every other character Sweet Southern Hearts (A Willow Hill Novel Book 3) are eually one dimensionalnd flat Nefertari bears no resemblance t ll to the complex vibrant real woman of history nd is instead cardboard cut out child prodigy who can do no wrong nd is woefully lacking in ny real faults or flaws This made it difficult to relate to her or empathise when she has to suffer through the childish pranks played on her by Iset Daddy's Girl Series: A Taboo Erotic Collection and Henuttawy even though I felt like Moran was hitting me over the head with isn t Nefertari tragic You should sympathise with her withll the subtlety of sledgehammer As for Ramesses he comes cross s disappointingly gullible nd weak manipulated by everyone round him The other characters were wafer thin nd forgettableThe main premise of the entire book is that Nefertari would have faced popular opposition due to being Dark Tides (Dark Tides associated with Akhenatennd Nefertiti Weathering the Storm and their Aten worship Leavingside the fact that there Wrong for Me (Motor City Royals, are significant issues with the evidencend dating which make it improbable that Nefertari was Mutnodjmet s daughter nd that Mutnodjmet was even Nefertiti s sister is it really plausible that peasants would have had close enough ccess to ueen Nefertari to have shouted heretic Fiddle: One Woman, Four Strings, and 8,000 Miles of Music at her Even if they could get that close is it believable thatny of them would ve dared to do so The nswer is no nd this is just common sense which pplies even if you re not historian But hypothetically if Downright Dead a large mob ofngry peasants could have nd wanted to heckle Nefertari during her wedding procession nd later t the palace gates would this have been llowed to happen NO Royal guards Left Fur Dead andrmy militiamen would have been ordered to swoop down on the mob long before they reached the sacred royals nd subdued them Would Nefertari nd Ramesses really come out to ddress the crowd Not chance They re of the royal blood descended from millennia of pharaohs Death by Tea and divine embodiments of the gods They did not believe that they had to justify themselves to small mob of disgruntled peasants it was the gods that were important The most disappointing thing is that this failure is less Loyalty and Lies (Chastity Falls, about historicalccuracy than it is bout poor uality writing Plenty of books make historical errors or deliberate lterations which I can uite happily get on board with because the By Way Of A Wager author makes their fictional vision seem realisticuthentic nd ultimately gripping Moran fails to do this Her heretic mob scenarios re thinly sketched nd feel bsurd The dialogue is juvenile nd the descriptions re basic There s no complexity here no subtlety or sophisticationIn short it s When Kingdom Comes about suspension of disbelief It is up to the writer to createn environment world in which the characters move that is plausible in order to enable the reader to experience full immersion in the story If the story is fantasy sci fi or nother fantastical genre that should not preclude it from being realistic or believable The Wayward Bride (Besotted Scots, as those worlds can have their own set of rulesnd laws s long s they make sense in the story In Such a Dance a book that is based in our worldnd further on ctual events s in the historical fiction genre this kind of skill nd storycraft is bsolutely critical People may the of nd storycraft is bsolutely critical People may fiction is not n deuate excuse for failing to produce Geeking Out on 11C a piece of work that immerses the reader work that the reader can t engage with because it lacks the feel of the genuine Et there is nothing that should preclude Historias sobre los Fondos Bahá'ís a work of fiction from being realistic or plausible Simply put Moran lacks the skillnd storycraft reuired to create this plausibilityI was really disappointed with this book because I had such high hopes for it It s rare to find historical fiction on Reasoning with the Infinite: From the Closed World to the Mathematical Universe ancient Egyptnd I snapped this book up when I saw it I really wanted it to be something that blew me Real Food/Fake Food: Why You Don’t Know What You’re Eating and What You Can Do About It away Instead I finished the book feeling deflated I wish Michelle Moran the best of luck with her future endeavourss she seems genuinely interested in her subject but I hope to see her develop s n uthor nd her novels improve Until then I ll be picking her books up from the library For nyone looking for gripping complex plot with high uality writing nd subtle characterisations nd decent historical ccuracy to boot I recommend Pauline Gedge instead3 out of 10 Maybe like 375 out of 5 The uthor does good job of capturing what we know from the rcheaological record bout the culture nd lifestyle of ncient Egypt Mr Darcy's Cottage of Earthly Delights: Shades of Pride and Prejudice and the 19th dynasty And the book certainly peaks my interest in the relationship between Ramesses IInd Nefertari whose love was well documented in poetry nd on the walls of monuments nd shrines The basic plot involves the rise of Nefertari n outcast princess shunned because of her relationship to Nefertiti to the throne nd the complicated court politics she has to navigateFor some reason parts of the novel didn t feel flushed out enough for me nd other parts seemed overly dwelt on Her childhood nd preening to become the perfect woman for Ramesses got little old The fact that he was so two dimensional s to completely fall for her caterpil The simplicity of Moran s writing style The
